I stopped in yesterday afternoon for a quick Dog. It was a true Chicago dog done correctly. It did come with Fries and they were done good also. Cute small place but quality food. Wish the pop was less than 1.00 for a can. I will be back. Ed

Having driven by Hound Dogs on a previous occasion and being disappointed to learn they were closed one Saturday afternoon I was finally in the area during their normal business hours and had the opportunity to stop by. Inside is a fairly small classic Chicago style eatery with a few tables set up on the inside and a figure of Dr. Jekyll standing towards the back. Since I had a friend of mine with me at the time we decided to split the two hot dog special which gives you two hot dogs, fries and a can of soda for 5.00. I placed the order sat down and within a few minutes the food was ready. The gentleman was nice enough to split the fries into two separate baskets for us as well. The hot dog here came on a classic poppy seed bun, the bun was soft and clearly steamed. There was a thin tomato slice on top of the hot dog, a small amount of celery salt could be seen as well. There were several hot sport peppers on the dog, neon green relish and well chopped onion. The mustard was well applied and there was a pickle spear that was suitably sliced on top. The sausage itself was skinless and was well steamed as well. The first bite was an immediate indicator that this was a very well made hot dog. No one flavor stood out with every condiment and addition complimenting the overall flavor. The fries included were thick crinkle cut fries, these were not particularly salty and were a little on the bland side. I'd say they were average fries but as it wasn't the main course this didn't detract from my overall experience. Overall I was very impressed with the hot dog from Hound Dogs and would recommend visiting if you happen to be in the area. I was served excellent food at a fair price and will give them a full five star rating.

Stopped by here recently and things have changed and not for the better. First of all they have done away for the $5 special of two dogs, fries, and a can of pop. The can of pop has not been removed from the special. But my two biggest concerns are 1) the hot dog buns were as hard a rock, it was not steamed at all. Biting into one of the dogs actually made the bun split down the bottom. 2) Two much cold trimmings, when picking up the dog you could feel how cold it was and sure enough it had cooled dowm the weiner quite a bit.

Heard good things about this place. Tiny location but what a hot dog! I don't really eat a lot of hotdogs other than at a BBQ or picnic but there is something delicious about these dogs! I'll be back and soon!

Their hot dogs are always perfectly done. The fries are always hot and crispy. The service is great. Prices are good, too.

Hooray! What a dramatically different expreience than the $5 hotdog dupe from Firehouse Steak and Lemonade. Hound Dogs' Chicago Style Vienna beef $5 hotdog special really is special. $5 INCLUDING TAX has 2 properly dressed dawgs on poppy seed buns, can of pop and fries. Freindly staff who greet the regularsby name, clean bathrooms and a REAL $5 deal earns them 5 stars.

I will have to downgrade my previous review. The owner decided to sell Vienna beef instead of Mr. Beef and I just don't think it is as good. The hot dog is good, but the French fries are frozen. My personal opinion is a small place like this can cook their own beef roasts and peel and cut their own homemade French fries. The owner just sits there and reads the paper waiting for customers. I would suggest spending some prep time and make a better beef sandwhich and homemade fries. Maybe a homemade sausage sandwich. Lets go back to the old days. Seems this is just a hobby with the owner. Too bad.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
